Individual Papers

Individual papers can cover a substantive topic linked to qualitative inquiry and the congress theme. These can be delivered by a single researcher or a group of researchers. A ‘paper’ is a presentation of 15 minutes + 5 minutes questions, discussion and/or responses. We encourage an inclusive, broad reading of ‘paper’: a presentation can be read or spoken, with or without slides, and can also be performed, sung, danced, etc. (within the limits of the time and facilities available).

Please submit a title and abstract of 300 words (maximum) and give a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords. After acceptance, you will be requested to submit a full paper, but you will not be obliged.

Panel

A panel (90 minutes) comprises 4 to 5 papers around a theme. A panel submission proposes a title that speaks to the theme of the collection of abstracts/papers contributing to it. We encourage an inclusive and broad reading of ‘papers’, which can be read or spoken, with or without slides, but can also be performed, sung, danced, etc. (within the limits of the time and facilities available).

It’s also an option to submit more than one panel on a theme. These could run sequentially as a series over two or more conference sessions in the same conference room (as far as possible). Please note: abstracts submitted as part of a panel do not also need to be resubmitted separately as an individual paper.

Individual Posters

Individual posters can cover a substantive topic linked to qualitative inquiry and the congress theme. These can be delivered by a single researcher or a group of researchers. Individual papers can be either empirical or theoretical in nature. Posters will be displayed in the congress space and can be removed at the end of the proceedings.

Please submit a title and an abstract of 300 words (maximum) and give a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords. After acceptance, you will be requested to submit a full paper, but you will not be obliged.

Game Changers

Game Changers serve as inter-, multi- or transdisciplinary think tanks that will run over three days and will end up in a plenary where findings, strategies or lines of argumentation can be shared with the congress delegates.

Game Changers' topics address broader political or strategically important domains that cut across the community of qualitative researchers and demand the attention of these communities. They also initiate discussions and the further development of qualitative responses to major challenges or newly emerging trends in society.

Leaders of think tanks are encouraged to propose a topic. Delegates that subscribe to a Game Changers session are encouraged to attend at least two sessions as well as the plenary. The group will work together to create a viewpoint, policy brief, strategic paper or response to the topic that can be shared via the European Network of Qualitative Inquiry. Where necessary, the Network can serve as a collective platform through which these viewpoints are disseminated simultaneously in relevant journals or provide further support to carry on with the work beyond the congress.

The time slot provided for a Game Changer is 90 minutes.

Please submit a title and abstract of 750 words and give a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords. After acceptance, you will be requested to submit a full paper, but you will not be obliged.

Dream Teams

Dream Teams bring delegates together around a specific topic of interest in an open session to advance their thinking on a particular subject, challenge or theme. Dream Team sessions are interactive, inviting delegates into a thinking or working exercise. Preferably, Dream Team sessions result in a writing collective to valorise the outcome of the session in a joint effort of presenters and participating congress delegates. They can be dissolved afterwards to create space for new Dream Teams at upcoming congress editions.

The time slot provided for a Dream Team is 90 minutes.

Please submit a title and abstract of 750 words and give a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords. After acceptance, you will be requested to submit a full paper, but you will not be obliged.
